Alberni Valley and West Coast real estate sale prices went up nine per cent from July 2012 to this July. This is the highest increase in the Vancouver Real Island Estate Board territory.
The average sale price in July 2012 was $230,958 for a singlefamily property while the average sale price for this July was $250,910.
For the same period, the average sale prices remained stable in Campbell River, Comox Valley, Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo and Parksville.
"It is good news," said VIREB president Gary Gray.
"It is pretty positive." The region's average sale price remained the lowest on the Island, with all other regions but Campbell River exceeding $325,000. The Parksville and Qualicum Beach average price was the highest, at $376,060, with Nanaimo following, at $362,918.
The statistics also show a sharp increase for Port Alberni and the West Coast from June to July. In June, 17 properties were sold for an average price of $207,444. In July, 26 properties were sold and the sale price was $43,466 higher.
