Since 1988, British Columbians have raised more than $261 million through Miracle Weekend fundraising campaigns for the urgent needs of BC Children's Hospital. Thanks in part to these donations, the way we care for children has been transformed.
The 2015 Miracle Weekend brought in $18.8 million, and this total is comprised of the year round fundraising efforts from employee and community groups from across BC, and supports the Excellence in Child Health Fund (pdf).
Take a moment to meet our 2015-16 Champion Child, Aidan Chin. Aidan of Vancouver is part of Champions presented by Walmart Canada, which is a Children’s Miracle Network program that honours remarkable children who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges.
What is the Excellence in Child Health Fund and why is it important?
The Excellence in Child Health Fund is vital to our ability to meet the most critical health-care needs of BC’s children and youth today. Every year, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation directs undesignated charitable donations to the three organizations it serves: BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute.
Your support helps to fund clinical care, research and development, staff and family education programs, and the purchase of vital, lifesaving equipment. It is essential that this unrestricted donor support be made available to allow the hospital, Sunny Hill and research institute to determine their needs on an annual priority basis so they can distribute resources where they are needed the most.
By supporting the Excellence in Child Health Fund, you are ensuring our patients receive the best care possible. Gifts to the Excellence in Child Health Fund support three major areas:
