Last week Telus and BC Hydro was in Ucluelet laying out plans to replace 300 poles along Highway 4 that will be suitable for Telus to run fibre optic cables from Port Alberni to the Ucluelet-Tofino Junction. BC Hydro hopes to start construction in June with a completion date estimated in November. Then Telus can start coiling cable in December.
Plans are still in the early stages and representatives from Telus have not yet released specific dates for their end of the project, but it looks like the wait for more high speed internet on the west coast will soon be over.
